Bauxaline®
Since 1990 Aluminium Pechiney Gardanne has been studying the residues of Bauxite after extraction of alumina. Once the physical and chemical characteristics of residues were identified, new applications were sought. The Scientific Committee approved the valuation of the residues projects under the denomination Bauxaline®.
Studies sought to make recommendations, classifications and ratifications for various applications which will give Bauxaline® the status of an alumina coproduct through the Bayer process.
Application tests were decisive in several sectors :
- Civil engineering (road embankments, injection fillings)
- Building (prefabricated building materials)
- Agronomic support
- Artificial reefs
- Covering of refuse disposal dumps |
